Here in Oregon we have big salmon. It is not uncommon to see them in the 40 and 50 pound bracket. This is a very easy fishery for everyone. We anchor up in strategic places that we know the salmon are going to run through, and put our lures out with lead holding our lines near the bottom and wait for the rods to lay flat when those big salmon take the lure and boy do they hit them hard. I have seen rods go down like this thousands of time and my heart still goes rapid when I see those salmon hit as hard as they do.

Sturgeon Fishing Tips
Usually in March and early April, it isn’t a matter of getting your keeper sturgeon, it is a matter of which one you want to keep. Those big sturgeon are brutal on small gear. The trophy sturgeon fishery fires up in mid May and we catch them all summer long. These fish will average 200-400 lbs and 8-9 ft long. They are the monsters of the fresh water. Not long ago, we had one come out of the water five times, and twic - I will be! - there was a couple feet from his tail to the water. They make great videos that you will watch all the time.
